The popularity of Botox® Cosmetic doesn’t seem to wane mainly because it’s such a quick, powerful and non-invasive way to take years off your appearance. Dynamic wrinkles form thanks to contractions of the delicate facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown and the more emotion you show, the deeper the wrinkles tend to be. These lines can make you look tired, sad or angry even when that’s not reflective of your mood or personality. Botox is an FDA-approved treatment to safely and effectively reduce wrinkles and frown lines. It temporarily blocks impulses from the nerve tissue to the targeted facial muscles responsible for expression lines causing them to remain relaxed so the overlying skin is smooth and wrinkle-free. Common injection sites include the area between the eyebrows, the forehead, the outer corners of the eyes (crow’s feet), the sides of the mid-chin for downturned smiles and the neck for neck bands or visible cords. Botox can also be used to treat other conditions, including excessive perspiration, blepharospasm and migraine headaches.
Injections are safe, virtually painless, fast and have no downtime
Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and can also prevent new ones from forming
Can elevate eyebrows for a subtle, non-surgical brow lift
Treating wrinkles with Botox is a simple and safe procedure and generally takes about 10 minutes. Many times, it can be done on the same day as your consultation with Dr. Jung. He uses a tiny micro-needle to inject a small amount of Botox very precisely into several locations on your face. Pain is minimal and most patients say it feels like a bug bite because the needle is so fine and only a little bit of liquid is used. It doesn’t require local anesthesia or sedation.
Botox is temporary and the results last about three to four months. If you’ve been having Botox injections regularly, you may notice you need injections more frequently or require an increased dosage. Dr. Jung will work with you to determine the best approach for maintaining smooth skin.
There is no downtime associated with Botox and you can resume your normal activities immediately. If any redness or swelling occurs at the injection site, it usually goes away quickly. Untreated facial muscles will still contract and aren’t affected by the Botox, so your normal facial expressions won’t be altered.
