All-on-4®, sometimes referred to as “Teeth in a Day,” is a revolutionary alternative to dentures. The procedure is for patients who require total rehabilitation for one or both jaws due to compromised or non-restorable dentition. We can permanently replace missing teeth and patients can walk out of surgery with a brand new smile. Instead of inserting a dental implant for each tooth, with the All-on-4 technique, all of the teeth are anchored by four implants placed strategically along the jaw, which saves time and money. The bone of the jaw is recontoured into the optimal shape and height to support the implants and prosthesis.
Restores facial aesthetics and lip support
Allows for optimal chewing mechanics
Improves smile line profile
During the procedure, you’ll be sedated for your comfort and safety. The remaining broken down or non-restorable teeth will be removed. Once this is complete, the jawbone will be recontoured and four to six implants will be placed depending on the amount of bone present. After the implants are inserted, attachments are connected to them so that we can screw in the prosthesis. The surrounding tissue will be sutured and then Dr. Jung will wake you up so we can take impressions to form the final fit of the prosthesis. You’ll leave surgery with temporary teeth that will eventually be replaced with your permanent prosthesis.
Pre + Post
Prior to the procedure, you’ll have a pre-operative CT scan and impressions taken. Dr. Jung will evaluate your history to see if you’re a good candidate for All-on-4. If you are, we’ll go over medications and tell you which ones you’ll need to stop and start taking.
After surgery, you’ll have some swelling and bruising around the implant sites. This should resolve in five to seven days. Dr. Jung will give you medication to alleviate the swelling and discomfort. You’ll also receive a nightguard and instructions for follow-up. For the first two to four weeks, you’ll be on a soft/liquid diet to allow for the integration of the implants into the jawbone. You’ll stop in for appointments to be evaluated and ensure everything is healing accordingly.
